Listening to Daedelus, I totally passed my usual goal of 3 miles while out for a run today.
Again, I beat my fastest mile and was congratulated by Tiger Woods.
I am the 1/8 ton Usain Bolt.
You should listen to Daedelus, too! http://bit.ly/qWL4j
crockpot chicken sausage chili
3 cups chicken broth
2 boneless chicken breasts (cooked and shredded)
4-pack of Roasted Pepper and Garlic Chicken Sausage (quartered)
—-(pre-cooked sausages can be cut and put directly into crockpot)
1 chopped yellow onion
4 cloves crushed garlic
2 cans great northern beans (drained & rinsed)
1 can light red kidney beans
1 jar tomatillo salsa
1 10oz can of diced tomato w/green chilis
2 cups frozen corn kernels
1/2 cup of chopped fresh jalepeno & hot banana peppers
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons of ancho chili powder
1/2 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
after 4 hours of cooking, I extracted 1-2 cups of broth and added a package of chicken taco seasoning.
I might have broken the 30 minute mark on my 3 mile run today, had it not been for Oprah Winfrey. The traffic and chaos near Harpo Studios was insane. I gave directions to a truck driver that was trying to get back to the Kennedy Expressway, had to stop for a couple of busy intersections and had to push my way through a sidewalk of smokers on the Oprah staff.
68 degrees and sunny. Chicago’s official 3 day long “Indian Summer”. The low temps will dip down into the high thirties by Saturday night.
I ran to one of my favorite albums of this year: “Filth” by Venetian Snares.

Again, Tiger Woods congratulated me on my new fastest mile.
I nearly broke an 11 minute/mile pace. I guess that isn’t bad for only running for a couple of weeks and being miserably out of shape.
Two weeks ago, I went running for the first time since 1991. I signed up for the November 1st “Hot CHocolate 5K” and set a goal to try and finish in 30 minutes.
The first few times that I kept track of my time (mostly a mix of slow jogging and walking), I thought my goal might be impossible, but today I finished just over 34 minutes.
Pretty exciting, though the weather today was perfect.
At the end of my run, Tiger Woods interrupted The Jesus Lizard on my iPod to congratulate me for my fastest mile time. Another funny feature of the Nike+ system.
